Christopher Boykin, “Big Black”, Dies At Age 45

Christopher Boykin, nicknamed as the “Big Black” died on Tuesday morning. The prominent star of MTV’s Rob and Big was 45 years old.

Statements

“MTV is deeply saddened to learn the news of Christopher ‘Big Black’ Boykin’s passing,” MTV stated. “He was a long time and beloved member of the MTV family and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this time.”

Rob and Big featured Rob Dyrdek as a professional skateboarder along with his bodyguard known as Big Black. The popular series screened from 2006 to 2008; staying for three seasons.

“RIP @BigBlack. My heart is crushed. I’ll remember all the times you made me laugh and my prayers go out to your family,” Co-star Chanel West Coast confirmed tweeted.

Legacy

Rob and Black was a very successful show that led to a spinoff Fantasy Factory, Boykin would have been on the spinoff. Also, he would have participated in programs on MTV such as Ridiculousness as well as Guy Code and Snack Off. Big Black recently created line of clothes for plus-size named as Big Man Network and Big Dime Pieces.

The famous star was lately in Los Angeles when he expressed how much he misses his days with Rob and Black.

“Whenever I have dinner at Lemonade in Studio City, I always cross the street to a look at one of my accomplishments, ‘the Ventura Blvd walk of fame’ not bad for a fat black kid from Wiggins Ms….#godisgood #allthetime,” he wrote on Instagram.

Boykin was born in Mississippi in 1972. Before becoming an entertainer, singer and an actor, Big Black joined in the US Navy. He has one daughter, Isis Rea Boykin, who is 9 years old.
