The famous Real Madrid player, Cristiano Ronaldo has signed up to participate in a drama series based on the plight of Syrian refugees along side other Hollywood stars such as Angelina Jolie.
According to Sky News, the anticipated series called, Hayat Koprusu, focuses on a “Syrian family fleeing the civil war for Turkey”.
The director of the show, Eyup Dirlik, confirmed the Jolie and Ronaldo involvement and announced that, “We will begin filming in the first week of April. The series is about the plight of a refugee family and what they go through. There will be appearances from actors and actresses from all over the world, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Angelina Jolie and (Arabic music star) Nancy Ajram.”
The filming will take place in Gaziantep, turkey, in close proximity to the Syrian border. The topic of this drama is one that Renaldo has openly remarked in the past, as seen by his twitter posts this past December:
According to h.t ESPN FC, the thirty two year old sports legend and celebrity superstar gave a “generous donation” to Nick Finney’s Save the Children charity.
Sky News also noted that Ronaldo has made remarks about his desire to try acting last year despite his tight schedule, “It’s difficult as I have so many training sessions, games and competitions,,,but I would not close the door, it is something I like”.
In the meantime, Ronaldo continues to succeed in the field, winning the UEFA Champions League as well as the Club World Cup for Real Madrid last year.
His team remains in top position of the La Liga, with Ronaldo impressively contributing fourteen goals over seventeen appearances.
