Kylian Mbappe had revealed that he turned down a chance to play for Arsenal before signing for Paris Saint-Germain.
Mbappe was top of Arsenal’s transfer list as the club prepares for life in the Europa League this season.
Mbappe who was one of the brightest stars in Monaco last season as they went on to win the league. But stated that he never wanted to leave his country and opted for a loan move to PSG.
“I spoke with Arsene Wenger and he is someone that I respect a lot, ” he said. “He is highly respected here in France for his ability to develop young players.”
PSG Was My First Choice
“There were other options for me but PSG was always my first choice. We compared the advantage and disadvantages of the other clubs but I was given the chance to make a decision by my family and I had to do it.”
“It is a decision that I made with a long term goal on my mind because I want to keep developing as a player.”
Mbappe has had previous experience in English football as he had a trial at Chelsea before he turned professional and met up with the likes of Drogba and Malouda.
“It was a great experience and I enjoyed my trial at the club. It opened my eyes to a lot of things at the club. So it was a unique opportunity for me.
