Modern Leather Kilt

Kilt is a very old garment that has been in existence for many years. It is a noble product that came from the early Celtic race of Caledonia. It is contend that the Kilt came from Ireland instead of Scottish ancestry.

Modern kilts have developed from simple wool clothing and fabric that were worn centuries ago. Today, Kilt designers create unique kilt material styles that appeal to modern gents. One of the latest styles that come from the kilt manufacturers’ workshops is the leather kilt.

If you are not familiar with the word, the kilt is a long skirt that is manufactured for men, not for women; although women today now wear kilts, too. The Classic kilt origin can be traced to Scotland and was generally produced from plaid cotton refer to as tartan. As times have changed, new sorts of materials began to be used in producing kilts and leather kilt were born.

A leather kilt is a men’s kilt that is produced out of the leather material. Real leather products are made from the hide of an animal, typically a cow; however, lamb skin, goat and ostrich leather are also used. Vegan leather or PU leather is produced out of a plastic that is designed to feel and look likes the genuine items. These “counterfeit” leather kilts are cheaper and can be desirable by vegetarian and vegans. Today, leather kilts are available in different colors. Brown and black are more traditional, but kilts can also be found in green, red, blue, and others colors.

Styles of leather kilts

These came in several varieties of styles. Several are designed to give life to the appearance of classic tartan kilt. These designs are generally flat panels at the front and pleats along its sides. Most of these types of kilts have buckling strap closure. Newer modern versions can have cargo pockets or have edge ornaments such as stud or chains.

Most of these kilts are motivated by biker gear instead of traditional kilts. This involves chaps- style kilts that are produced to wear over jeans or trouser and gladiator style asymmetrical kilts that are on the short side.

Caring for leather kilts

This kilt needs some special care in order to stay in good condition. The Following are the tips to ensure that the leather kilt you purchase keeps looking good like new as long as possible:
• Avoid washing a kilt, because every time you wash, you remove some of the natural oils from the leather. If the leather is dirty, try spot cleaning it with a cleaner produced specifically for genuine leather.
• To keep the leather supple, use a wax- free leather lotion or moisturizer to your kilt on a monthly basis. Read and follow the instructions on the packaging for best results.
• Hang your leather kilt on the cotton bag in the closet instead of plastic. It will enable the skin to breathe. Never hang without a bag to protect it, as color from other clothing might rub off on it, and it can be damage or scratched in the closet.
