Why a ‘FRIENDS” Reunion would never work – explains Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston was a staple on the NBC sitcom; Friends. The show ran from 1994 to 2004,10 seasons on the NBC network. But even after being cancelled over 12 years ago, the delightful comedy is still a hit with long-time fans as well as new viewers.

The popular show now airs in syndication on several other networks. Friends telecasts are streamed around the world on Netflix. Ms. Anniston played the popular character Rachel Green, whom she talked about in an interview with Lorraine of ITV.

She explained in the interview that “Not only was it a gift for us, but it’s something that people have grown up with. Its mental medicine and it makes them feel good when they’re feeling blue when they want a distraction, because it is always there!” she said. “You can pretty much find it anywhere!”

A reunion of the show has always been suggested by fans, however, the cast of Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry do not share in the their sentiments.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly about a reunion the actress stated “I can’t think of what we will do.”  “I think that period of time was sort of nostalgic. I think why everyone is so close to it is because although it ended 12 years, or 13—God, time flies—there was a time when we were living our lives on the internet. We weren’t checking status updates and tweaking profile pictures. We were in gangs, chatting, having coffee, joking around. We don’t do it anymore.”

Aniston also opens up about the struggles they experienced while shooting Friends. “We had the privilege to be around a lot of talent back then; they will come and be a guest star. And they were not secure about it,” she said. “It was not an easy experience to perform for live audience. Humour comes from being genuine and reflexive, but just with crazy, odd circumstances behind it.”
